PURPOSE OF POSITION: 
 
Join our team as a Trauma-Informed Therapist and make a difference in the lives of children and their caregivers experiencing trauma and attachment difficulties. Provide personalized therapeutic services and contribute to growth and healing through service, communication, leadership, and compassion.

 
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Take leadership and act as a resource in crisis situations.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand children’s trauma history, symptoms, and treatment needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatments plans tailored to each child’s needs using evidence-based treatment models (TF-CBT, EMDR, PCIT, CPP).
  • Maintain trauma-informed practices in all aspects of care.
  • Educate children and their families about the effects of trauma, coping strategies, and self-care techniques to promote resilience and recovery.
  • Provide counseling and therapy to individuals, families, and couples.
  • Lead therapeutic groups for specific areas.
  • Design and deliver educational/therapeutic workshops.
  • Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals, community resources, and support networks to promote positive client outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant information in compliance with agency/COA standards.
  • Advocate for trauma survivors’ needs within the community.
  • Stay updated on the latest research, developments and best practices in trauma-informed care through ongoing professional development and training (minimum 40 hours/year)
  • Additional projects and responsibilities as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or related field.
  • Currently licensed or provisionally licensed to practice therapy (or ability to gain a license to practice therapy) in Iowa and/or Nebraska.
  • Experience in trauma and attachment difficulties.
  • Trained and certified in at least one Evidenced-based Treatment Model.
  • Knowledge of counseling/therapy models and techniques.
  • Ability to travel with a valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
  • Interact with clients and children with sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Must display excellent communication skills including the ability to: write clear and concise reports, efficiently express thoughts, and to coordinate client services.

 

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • On-site Flexible work schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to function effectively in a busy, high-stress environment.
  • Bending, lifting, and ability to travel for service delivery.
  • Must be able to pass criminal history, child abuse, and sex offender checks and complete a physical and TB test.
