Reviews applications for services and communicates proper course of action to applicants to the school programs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Conducts assessment of youth applicants for Boys Town school services and provides information to consumers; services contractual relationships and provides administrative support.

  • Communicates in a timely manner acceptance of eligibility for special education services.

  • Coordinates the completion of the eligibility process with special education staff and teachers.

  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with various with schools and families; establishes positive relationships with referral sources and assists each home school district with fulfilling special education needs.

  • Assists consumers in identifying and accessing local service referrals.

  • Follows established procedures in handling each category of request.

  • Provides referrals to consumers whose needs are outside the scope of services offered.

  • Monitors contracts and ensures requirements are met by completing required documentation within contractual timelines.

  • Examines, updates, and documents information relevant in the accreditation and certification process; assists with licensing applications and renewals.

  • Attends workshops and conferences as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to youth care, and of community resources and service providers available in the geographical area.

  • High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

  • Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality.

  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and multi-task while maintaining quality standards.

  • Knowledge of the Boys Town Model.

  • Ability to adapt responses to situations while maintaining procedural and regulatory integrity.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience including working with children and/or schools is preferred.

  • Experience working within the Boys Town program or previous Boys Town experience is preferred.

  • Other Duties: This job description incorporates the essential functions and duties required for this position. However, other duties may be required and assigned at times and as determined by a supervisor in order to meet the needs of the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Extended periods of time in an office or classroom environment at a keyboard, workstation, or desk. Must have and maintain sufficient mental acuity and physical strength, agility, and endurance to perform all job requirements (including stressful situations - physically, mentally, and emotionally) encountered on the job without compromising the health and well-being of self, fellow employees, and youth or families.Work is typically in a normal educational school administrative environment involving but may sometimes be performed in a variety of environments ranging from highly stressful and potentially aggressive to casual and leisurely, in both indoor and outdoor settings. At times may include constant interruptions, inappropriate behaviors, and the potential for verbal and physical threats from youth.
