Payroll Coordinator - 9 month contract

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for all aspects of payroll administration to support multiple businesses across several states in semimonthly payroll.  This includes, but is not limited to, data entry of new hires, terminations, employee updates, calculating wage garnishments, preparing checks, and working directly with local HR contacts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform all payroll related functions for multi-state, multi-company payroll using PeopleSoft and Workday software including California terminations, overtime calculation, gross ups, charity deductions, bonus payments
  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
  • Audit incoming paperwork for authorized approvals and verify accuracy of local office data entry for assigned agencies
  • Perform second audit of payroll data entry/approvals completed by peer Payroll Coordinator agencies
  • Input off-cycle payments as necessary
  • Support local office Payroll and HR departments by responding to questions or inquiries
  • Assist in the printing and mailing of checks, direct deposit advices, and garnishments
  • Set up garnishments and wage assignments as mandated by state and federal laws
  • Process multi-state leave of absence and ensure accuracy of data from assigned agencies and 3rd party vendor
  • Maintain payroll files and furnish payroll information as required to internal and external sources
  • Possibly some overtime required twice a month
  • Regular and reliable attendance required
  • Ability to work onsite in an office environment with limited remote work alternatives, consistent with applicable law

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience processing payroll for 5000+ employees in multiple states
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe
  • Excellent computer skills and 10-key proficiency
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding garnishments, tax regulations, and FLSA
  • Strong organizational, time management, analytical, comprehension, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Consistent and maintained accuracy required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Workday payroll experience a plus
  • PeopleSoft payroll experience a plus
