POSITION SUMMARY:
The Information & Operations Technology (IOT) Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and securing both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) networks within the organization. This role involves bridging the gap between traditional IT and industrial systems, ensuring secure and seamless connectivity across all environments. The IOT Network Engineer will be instrumental in maintaining network performance, optimizing system integrations, and addressing network issues in both operational and industrial settings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Design, deploy, and maintain both IT and OT network architectures, ensuring optimal connectivity, scalability, and resilience.
- Integrate IT networks with OT systems such as PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and other industrial control systems.
- Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices for both IT and OT environments.
- Implement and enforce network security protocols to protect both IT and OT systems from cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
- Monitor and mitigate security risks by applying industry best practices (e.g., NIST, IEC 62443).
- Configure firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs to safeguard OT environments and ensure secure remote access to industrial systems.
- Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing.
- Support the integration of OT devices, sensors, and systems into the network, ensuring proper communication and data exchange.
- Configure communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, OPC, and PROFIBUS for industrial devices and controllers.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration and alignment of systems and technologies.
- Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings, and completing assignments. Ability to work and interact well with others.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor degree in computer science, information technology, networking, or another related field is preferred.
Experience:Â Minimum of 3 years of experience in network engineering, if degreed. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in network engineering, if non-degreed. 3 years of focused IT and OT network experience is preferred. â??
Required Skills:
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in network configuration and troubleshooting (Cisco, Checkpoint, or equivalent platforms).
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, Modbus, DNP3, OPC, etc.) and industrial communication standards.
- Experience with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and network security protocols.
- Hands-on experience with OT systems (e.g., SCADA, PLCs, HMI) and industrial control networks.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and standards relevant to OT environments (e.g., IEC 62443, NIST).
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, IoT, and IIoT.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CISSP, or equivalent networking/security credentials.
- Experience in critical infrastructure industries such as manufacturing, energy, or utilities.
- Knowledge of industrial automation software and tools (e.g., Wonderware, Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Automation).
- Familiarity with network monitoring and performance tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, Nagios).
- Knowledge of VoIP and Telecommunications.
SPECIAL DEMANDS
- Ability to bend/squat/reach/climb on occasion.
- Ability to work on-call to support 24x7 staff.
- This may require after hour and/or weekend work.
- Ability to travel to remote locations.
