Local Substitute Teacher

Omaha Public Schools is seeking substitute teacher candidates who are able to fulfill the requirements for Nebraska Local Substitute permits. Experiences working with children is required. College coursework in education or related experience required. TOP (Teaching Opportunity Program) approved for the Local Sub through MOECC will receive preference.

In order to be given consideration for a Local Substitute Teacher position, you must complete the on-line application and meet the following requirements:

Include email addresses for a minimum of three professional references
Upload a copy of your current degree and/or coursework transcripts
Upload a copy of your NDE Local Substitute Teaching Permit
Do not apply for this position if you hold a degree in education and have (or are in the process of getting) a Nebraska teaching certificate. Please apply using the Certified Substitute teacher application.

Please note that the following are also requirements to maintain an active status with OPS as a local substitute teacher:

Must work a minimum of five (5) days per school year.
May not substitute more than a total of 90 days per school year

Work Schedule/FLSA Status: Varies as needed

Salary Schedule: $250.00 per day

Position Purpose: The role of a Substitute Teacher is to ensure that students receive quality instruction in the absence of their regular teacher.
