SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the infrastructure essential to end users in achieving business goals. Use proven technical experience with standards, policies, practices, and procedures to provide primary support for certain infrastructure hardware and system software components while also serving as a backup (secondary) support individual to other assigned infrastructure components. Perform installations, upgrades, and provide consulting assistance for assigned infrastructure components. Perform pro-active monitoring and troubleshooting of assigned infrastructure components, assist in the configuration, implementation, and support for the company’s IT disaster recovery plan.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
1.Provide support for virtual server environments both on-premises and cloud.
2.Perform server hardware and software installation, upgrades, and problem resolution.
3.Responsible for system backups and recovery duties as assigned.
4.Serve as the primary contact for designing, upgrading, installing, and supporting network components, including switches, firewalls, and access points.
5.Provide input and support in the implementation and maintenance of an effective disaster recovery plan.
6.Utilize monitoring and configuration tools to accomplish tasks, monitor systems performance and resolve issues.
7.Assist in researching network hardware and software issues to meet future needs.
8.Provide secondary support and solution options for desktop hardware and software issues as needed.
9.Maintain network security through proactive patch management.
10.Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and information systems issues.
11.Develop/maintain infrastructure documentation and operating procedures; provide input to policy and standards development.
12.Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
•Bachelor’s degree in network technology, computer science, information systems or 4-7 years of experience providing primary support for a medium sized computing infrastructure environment.
•Knowledge and proven experience with a broad set of the technologies needed to maintain a computing infrastructure environment exampled by the following:

  • Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Network design and operational principles.
  • Network server and switch infrastructure.
  • Microsoft System Center environment.
  • Virtual environments.
  • Advanced network storage subsystems.
  • Firewall functionality and support.
  • Secure VPN user remote access environment.

 

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
•Ability to effectively use system administration and monitoring tools.
•Proven ability to administer cloud infrastructure environments.
•Proven ability to administer data backup and disaster recovery environments.
•Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills as well as strong oral and written communication skills.
•Proven ability to provide secondary support for desktop hardware and software issues as may be required.
•Proven ability to troubleshoot and support the Microsoft Systems environment.
•Proven ability to create and maintain detailed documentation as hardware and operating software systems are developed and modified.
•Proven ability to work well under pressure while working with other IT personnel, users, and vendors patiently and professionally while maintaining a positive attitude.
•Proven ability to solve problems with a variety of variables and participate in problem root cause analysis.

 

**WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL DEMANDS:
The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (as in typical office or administrative work). Travel demands for this position are estimated up to 0%. If travel is required, this travel may include customer visits, events/trade shows, and completion of presentations primarily throughout Domestic US or International regions. Employees must comply with all travel recommendations regarding “safe travel” according to company policies and guidelines, and all federal, state, local, and international orders.

 

**PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

Medium work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects. This also includes standing for up to two and a half hours consecutively, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, stooping, fingering, and grasping. Expressing and receiving detailed information through written and oral communication. Also has an ability to make sound, appropriate, and prompt decisions within the guidelines of the role.
